We are a husband & wife team. Based in the mountains of Montana & Washington State, we’ve been photographing and filming couples since the start of 2021.
Welcome to our blog where you’ll discover elopement planning resources, as well as beautiful galleries from real weddings!
You’re probably here to check out this amazing love story and get some inspiration for an epic Bitterroot Valley wedding location! Well, you’re in the right place. If you’re dreaming about a small wedding near Hamilton, Montana, the Bitterroot Valley is packed with beautiful places that feel like hidden gems. C & C live in Montana, and knew that they wanted to celebrate their intimate wedding close to home. They already had a location in mind, and it ended up being absolutely perfect. Their day was full of the things that mattered most to them… incredible mountain views, their favorite people, and plenty of time to actually enjoy the day together.
C & C’s wedding started high up in the Bitterroot Mountains with sweeping views of Trapper Peak and the valley below, continued with an intimate rooftop reception in Hamilton, and ended with the dreamiest sunset portraits along the Bitterroot River. While it was an incredibly hot summer day, it still ended up being absolutely perfect!

“Seriously, just pull the trigger and hire them. Hannah and Adam completely blew us away with not only their beautiful work, but with how much time and energy they put into our day. They seriously helped us plan every moment, from choosing a location, logistics, timeline, and even helped us online shop for a few details for our wedding day. They were such a calm presence on what could be a crazy day, and they kept us on schedule without making us feel rushed or pressured.
Their work completely speaks for itself. I knew we would get amazing photos based on their portfolio – but holy cow, the images they sent us are better than anything we could have dreamed up. I’m a photographer myself, and have seen the work of tons of talented elopement photographers over the years. But, Hannah and Adam are seriously the BEST in the elopement industry. I can’t think of anyone else who is producing work on their level.
Seriously, just book them already 😉“

One of the things we loved most about this day was that it truly felt like we had the mountains all to ourselves. C & C knew of this spot and had sent us some pictures and videos before we went to scout it ourselves. The drive up the rugged forest service road was a little long, but for the views, it was 100% worth it.
From the valley views below to the fact that Trapper Peak was so close it felt like you could poke it, everything was just how C & C envisioned. Even better, there was only one other car that appeared during their wedding (and it was a Saturday!). It’s a good reminder that if you have some local expertise in an area, you can find the best “private” locations for your elopement or wedding venue. Now, we’re local to the valley, so we’ve already got lots of “hidden gem” locations just like this one!
Their wedding ceremony was HOT—like, middle-of-the-day, 90-degree Montana summer hot—but honestly, it just made everything even more memorable. The bride’s sister played guitar while both of her parents walked her down the dirt aisle. The groom’s uncle officiated and a couple of family members shared readings before C & C exchanged rings and had their first kiss! There were lots of smiles, tears, and plenty of people trying to discreetly swat away biting flies while still paying attention. One of our favorite small wedding ceremonies to date!

After their ceremony, C & C had planned a picnic under the shade of ponderosa pines (the bride’s favorite tree). They brought charcuterie, custom napkins, and gorgeous flutes for bubbly! Everyone toasted to C & C’s marriage with some chilled champagne while cooling off from the hot summer day.

We braved the heat after their picnic for some sunny couple photos with the valley and Trapper Peak in the background. They both had the best wedding attire for a hot summer wedding! The groom wore a light colored suit with a floral bowtie and dark boots. And the bride wore an a-line dress with gorgeous floral lace, a veil attached with a floral hair piece, and the cutest white cowgirl boots that had red florals on them.

We all escaped the heat by driving back to Hamilton for a super laid-back reception on the rooftop at Nap’s Grill. It felt more like one big dinner with friends than a traditional reception, which was exactly the vibe these two wanted! Everyone grabbed cocktails and drinks from the rooftop bar and hung out for a while before sitting down at one long table to order dinner together. There was lots of laughing, sharing stories from the day, and just soaking in the fact that C & C were finally married. Somewhere between burgers, fries, and another round of drinks, they cut their cake and signed the marriage license. It was such a fun way to celebrate with their favorite people!

By the time dinner wrapped up, the heat had finally started to let up and we headed down to the Bitterroot River for sunset portraits. The light was absolutely unreal with such a soft golden hour glow! Even though it was the middle of summer, we had the whole place to ourselves, which still kind of blows my mind. We wandered the trails at the park, took our time, and even spotted a couple of deer! At this point in their day, there wasn’t any need to rush because we didn’t have a specific timeframe. This part of their day was just for the two of them. So, C & C spent it soaking in the last hours of their wedding day while the sun dropped behind the mountains.

Before we called it a night, the two of them wandered down to the edge of the river to read private vows that they’d saved just for each other. After spending the whole day surrounded by family and friends, it was really sweet to see them have a quiet moment just the two of them! Adam and I both kept our distance, so that this part of the day truly felt like they were alone.
The sun had already disappeared behind the mountains making it instantly much cooler, and the only sound was the river. After all the heat and excitement of the day, C & C kicked off their shoes and dipped their toes in the water to cool off, laughing and just taking it all in. This impromptu moment ended up being the bride’s favorite part of her wedding day!

Of course, we had to include some images of the couple’s wedding day details! The bride is a graphic designer and photographer, so she put together the best wedding invitations and itinerary. Every detail was super intentional, all the way down to the stamps she used. Check out her work here: Colleen Goldhorn Creative Co. for design services and her etsy shop!

The best part? An elopement or small wedding here feels less like one expensive event, and more like a chance to slow down, be more intentional, and spend quality time with the people who matter most.

How do we obtain our Marriage License to get married in the Bitterroot Valley?
You should arrive a couple of days before your wedding to secure your Marriage License from the local county clerk’s office. The license is valid for 180 days and costs $53.
What is the best time of year for an elopement in the valley?
Depends on what you’re looking for! Typically, the snow melts at lower elevations in May, so May-June is great for lush, greenery. End of June into September is great for better accessibility on trails, swimming, and warmer weather. Late September through October is wonderful for fall colors. There are lots of beautiful places down in the valley with fantastic larches and other fall colors! If you want snow, we recommend January-March (January tends to be the coldest month, though, so keep that in mind).
What are some elopement and wedding locations?
There are endless outdoor locations in the Bitterroot National Forest, Lolo National Forest, etc. We actually have a blog with some of our favorite popular & lesser known locations. Check it out! The Bitterroot Valley: Montana’s Hidden Gem for Elopements. And if you’re looking for a venue to host a small wedding or reception at, there are so many fun spots such as: Snowbowl (Missoula’s ski resort), Holland Lake Lodge (will not be reopening until fall of 2027 due to repairs), Camp Paxson on Seeley Lake, The Barn on Pine Hollow, and of course, plenty of beautiful VRBO and Airbnb rentals all over.
We’re overwhelmed with planning, do you help with finding vendors and such?
