We are a husband & wife team. Based in the mountains of Montana & Washington State, we’ve been photographing and filming couples since the start of 2021.
Welcome to our blog where you’ll discover elopement planning resources, as well as beautiful galleries from real weddings!
If you’re dreaming of a Mount Rainier elopement, but you also want to invite your loved ones, look no further because this day was the perfect blend of intimate and celebratory! Think cozy cabin vibes along the Cowlitz River, an intentional ceremony with family, and then an adventure up to Sunrise in Mount Rainier National Park for the kind of sunset that makes you say, “holy shit, this is unreal.”
This is exactly why we freaking love intimate weddings in Washington! They’re often adventurous but relaxed, meaningful and yet carefree. Plus, what’s better than saying your vows with Mount Rainier in the background?? Okay, keep reading for more on this epic day!
This Cowlitz River Airbnb wedding setup was the perfect mix of cozy cabin and PNW adventure elopement vibes. The cabin that K & P booked sat right along the river, giving them privacy and the perfect backdrop for their intimate wedding ceremony. And instead of going over-the-top with decor, they focused on meaningful details—like the couple’s hand-embroidered wedding shoes (which we’re still not over, honestly, like how freaking cute!!).
If you’re planning a Mount Rainier small wedding, this is your reminder that your details don’t need to be extravagant to be awesome. Personal touches, a beautiful location, and people you love? Literally the perfect combo.

Their wedding adventure kicked off with the groom getting ready alongside his parents and brother. Oh, and we can’t forget K & P’s doggos helping P get ready on the cabin’s porch, which obviously made everything better. This is your reminder that you can still include your four-legged besties even if you’re getting married in a National Park where they might not be allowed to adventure with you.
There’s something about having your people (and pups) around that just sets the stage for an awesome day. No pressure to get ready in a specific way, but instead, just being with the ones that matter!

Inside the cozy cabin, K got ready with her girls. They helped her into her wedding dress and veil by the big windows in the living room. Finding that natural light from beautiful windows is so key! Plus, while we got the beautiful photos and videos, K was able to enjoy the views while finishing getting ready. Win win!
One of the sweetest moments of the day, though, was her first look with her dad! It was emotional, genuine, and one of those times in the day where we just feel so grateful to be able to capture these moments for our couples. K’s dad and mom then helped her get into her hand-embroidered wedding shoes before heading out to the ceremony location.

K & P’s small wedding ceremony took place right on the lawn of their Airbnb, just steps from the Cowlitz River. And yes, it was as hot as the photos look. Which was crazy because this wedding took place in early October, but we’re talking high 70s, pushing 80. Being right by the river, though, was nice because it brought in a tiny breeze that made the ceremony a little bit more comfortable.
Want to know what was even better? The officiant was the bride’s brother, which made the whole ceremony feel incredibly personal and meaningful. He did such a lovely job making the ceremony feel like them.

After the ceremony and family photos, everyone gathered on the cabin deck for a champagne toast and to sign the marriage license. It was simple, celebratory, and full of that “we just did the dang thing” energy.
Moments like this are such a good reminder that small weddings don’t miss anything… they actually just make space for more of what truly matters.
We always recommend getting the Pierce County Marriage License if you’re getting married at Mount Rainier because the formal license has a beautiful image of the mountain on it!

On the way to the mountain, we made a must-do stop at the Mount Rainier National Park entrance sign. It’s a classic for a reason! And honestly, you can’t not pull over when the signs at Rainier look as cool as they do. Just always make sure to be super safe when doing this because the road does bend at this entrance, so visibility can be difficult unless you have another person helping to scout traffic (aka that’s part of what makes hiring a team perfect!).
If you’re planning your own Mount Rainier trip, you can check out road closure and additional park info here:

We headed up to the Sunrise area of Mount Rainier (aka one of the most jaw-dropping spots in the park). Instead of sticking to the busiest viewpoints, we found a short trail that gave us insane views of the mountain and a surprising amount of privacy.
It’s always our goal to find accessible locations, and offer tips on how to have a more private elopement experience. Growing up going to Mount Rainier, we know it’s a busy park. But trust us when we say that specific times of day, seasons, and trail types really do make a difference in your experience.
Some of our favorite Sunrise trails include:

Before the sun dipped too low, K & P cut their cake and read letters from loved ones while sitting on a rock with Mount Rainier towering behind them. This was a great way to include their loved ones from afar!
We often get asked “How do we ask our loved ones for letters on a day that they aren’t invited to?” And that’s a super fair question because sometimes loved ones aren’t receptive to your wedding plans if they aren’t involved. But always keep in mind that it’s YOUR wedding, and it’s okay to set a boundary of who is and isn’t invited.
There are lots of ways that you can ask for letters. One of our favorite recommendations, though, is sending out an elopement announcement postcard in the mail. On this card, you can let family and friends know that you’ll be eloping or having a very intimate wedding celebration. Then, let them know how much they mean to you and that you’d still love to include them in spirit through a letter that you and your partner are able to read on your wedding day! We recommend giving them some tips on what to include in their letter such as: wedding advice, favorite memories, or just kind words to you and your partner.

As we made our way back along the trail, the light turned that perfect golden, glowy magic that photographers (and couples) dream about. The kind of light that makes everything feel warm and a little unreal.
We made sure to stay on trail the whole time, following Leave No Trace principles (always a must in places like Mount Rainier). Protecting these spaces means future couples get to experience the same kind of magic!

While walking back on the trail, we found a quiet spot just as the sun was setting, and K & P exchanged private vows. There was no one else around, so they shared their hearts with just Tahoma as a witness. It was peaceful, intimate, and honestly one of those moments that makes you step back and go, yeah… this is why people elope.
We also captured some individual portraits here because the light was just too perfect! If you’re planning a Mount Rainier wedding, sunset at Sunrise is absolutely worth building your timeline around.

After the sun went down, we didn’t rush out, and you definitely shouldn’t either. Staying about 10–15 minutes after sunset gives you that soft, colorful blue hour light that feels completely different from golden hour.
The walk back along the trail in that fading light was calm, quiet, and the perfect way to end their day. A little adventure, a whole lot of love, and one insanely beautiful Mount Rainier wedding! Thanks K & P for letting us document it ❤️
