Believe it or not, this surprise proposal and engagement session along the shore at Lake McDonald took place as a thunderstorm rolled in from the mountains. It made the entire proposal and session extra moody and magical, from the moment A said yes to P to dancing on the dock in Apgar barefoot!

When P first reached out to have us document his proposal in Glacier Park to A, he had already figured out most of the details. He had the ring and an idea of how he wanted to present the proposal to her. P also knew he wanted to propose somewhere along the shore at Lake McDonald. But he needed help capturing it with photo and video, and figuring out the logistics. That’s where we came in!
P had an engraved rock that he wanted to place along the beach, so that A could find it! On it was written “Will you marry me?” But without being able to meet up in person beforehand, we had to find a spot along the beach to agree upon. P left the rock at their hotel hobby, where Adam and I picked it up and took it into the park. We hid it in our agreed upon location, and made sure that P knew all of the details! Without service, though, it’s always tricky.
While Adam and I were hiding in the trees waiting for P & A, we saw dark rain clouds start to roll in. We were just crossing our fingers that P was still able to convince A to go for a beach walk even with the weather looking suspicious!
We had to hide further into the trees when we saw P & A walking down the beach to make sure that the surprise wasn’t spoiled. P had pointed out the unique rock, hoping A would pick it up! But since it looked different, A was nervous and told P to pick it up (we all were cracking up laughing together afterwards because A did not want to grab the “strange” rock). But eventually she did, and P got down on one knee! It was so magical! Adam and I felt so honored to have been able to document it for them!

After the proposal, we got to meet A finally, and they both went to change into non-hiking attire! At this point, the clouds were looking really menacing, but we were determined to dance through the rain anyway! P & A walked along the shore of Apgar Beach, skipped rocks, danced on the dock, and even got into the freezing lake. We might not have gotten a golden sunset, but I’d argue that the moody sky was even more magical to witness!
