We are a husband & wife team. Based in the mountains of Montana & Washington State, we’ve been photographing and filming couples since the start of 2021.
Welcome to our blog where you’ll discover elopement planning resources, as well as beautiful galleries from real weddings!
This lake is a local’s favorite! It sits on a geographic fault that formed a chasm and filled with water a long time ago, along with it’s sister lake. Both lakes are spring-fed and home to tons of different types of birds, like raptors and bald eagles. We love paddle boarding, kayaking, and fishing, as well as cross-country skiing in the winter. It’s definitely a popular place to visit, so we recommend visiting during the shoulder seasons or early in the morning! But all in all, it’s an amazing place for an adventure couples session in Montana!
If you’re not sold on this lake, there are tons of incredible lakes in Montana! Our favorite local lakes to Bozeman include:
Hyalite Reservoir – This is a classic place to visit if you live or are vacationing in Bozeman. Hyalite Canyon is only 30 minutes from downtown Bozeman, and you’ll find Hyalite Reservoir roughly 10 miles up the road. It’s accessible year-round, except for spring when all the snow is melting (usually the beginning of April to the middle of May). There are a ton of hiking trails including Palisade Falls and Hyalite Lake. During the summer, people enjoy dispersed camping, picnicking, water activities, and more! During the winter, you can cross country ski, ice fish, or sled.
Lava Lake – This is not accessible by car, but can be seen by hiking in approximately 3 miles one-way. It’s a moderately challenging trail with over 1,500 feet of elevation gain. We recommend checking this lake out during the summer/fall! It’s a great kid and dog-friendly trail that can also be done by horseback.
Fairy Lake – Fairy Lake might be our favorite spot near Bozeman! This alpine lake sits at the base of Sacagawea Peak, which is part of the Bridger Range. There are two parking lots: the lower parking lot requires about a 4 mile round-trip hike, and the upper lot puts you right by the lake. The water is a beautiful light blue/green color, very similar to the images from this gallery!
Adventure sessions in Montana are usually outdoor-based because there are so many awesome things you can do in nature here! One thing that we love doing is camping. There are a ton of great campgrounds, like Spire Rock, Fairy Lake, and Eagle Creek, as well as dispersed camping. If you plan on pitching a tent or bringing your van, hire us to capture some fun couples photos! There are so many awesome experiences you can have while camping. With this sweet couple, they brought their Bernese Mountain dog for snuggles, as well as hot cocoa and s’mores supplies! After exploring their Sprinter Van, we made a fire and got cozy. It was a great way to end a fun evening!
Let’s plan a fun session like this one! Reach out now to chat and get on our books 😊
This Montana-based adventure session is such a good example of why we suggest planning something for your couples/engagement/anniversary photos, and even your elopement/wedding. It can be as small as building in time to eat a packed lunch, or as big as rock climbing or taking a helicopter somewhere! Having an experience to share makes for not only epic photos, but also epic memories. And that’s what we want for photos, right? We want to look at them and remember what a fun experience it was! So, feel free to check out the whole gallery below! It’s worth it, trust me.
