We are a husband & wife team. Based in the mountains of Montana & Washington State, we’ve been photographing and filming couples since the start of 2021.
Welcome to our blog where you’ll discover elopement planning resources, as well as beautiful galleries from real weddings!
These two booked a 4 hour engagement adventure session in one of our favorite places: Olympic National Park. They really wanted to explore more than one location and since there’s so much to see, we figured 4 hours would be a good start! We were able to check out Lake Crescent, surrounding rain forest trails, and Rialto Beach. In our opinion, there’s really nothing better than an Olympic National Park engagement session, especially if you want a lot of diversity in your gallery!
Starting at Lake Crescent, we walked around one of our favorite trails, exploring the tall Western Hemlocks, Western Red Cedars, Bigleaf Maples, Sitka Spruce, and Douglas Fir trees. Almost all of them are draped in moss and lichen, making them feel even more EPIC. Of course, I had Emily and Allen sit down in the dirt, so we could also capture the huge ferns!
Afterwards, we went down to one of the public docks on Lake Crescent to see the water! There is truly no other lake (except maybe alpine lakes) in Washington that is more beautiful! Lake Crescent is a 600+ foot deep lake, formed by a glacier about 8,000 years ago. The water is super blue due to its lack of phytoplankton and low levels of nitrogen. We love photographing Olympic National Park engagements here because it’s just so dang photo-worthy! Not only was the water beautiful, but at the end of June, the wildflowers are in bloom in surrounding fields along the lake.
For the second half of Emily and Allen’s session, we trekked out to the Washington Coast. One of our favorite spots along the northern part of the Washington Coast is Rialto Beach. The rocky beach is covered in smooth rocks, tide pools, and lots to explore! It’s also where you can do the 1-mile hike out to the famous “hole-in-the-wall.” Unfortunately, we weren’t able to explore that during this session due to the incoming tide. Tides are ever-changing, so make sure that you check out a tide chart before heading out to the coast.
The towering sea-stacks, large driftwood, and huge waves make for such a beautiful Olympic engagement session backdrop. Another one of our favorite beaches is Ruby Beach! We’ve photographed here most often because it’s not as far of a drive from town as Rialto. Check out some of our other Olympic National Park engagements and elopements:
These two got engaged in Olympic National Park, so it’s a very special place for them. And when we initially talked on the phone about their session, Emily mentioned wanting to explore more than just one location. I suggested a 4 hour adventure engagement session because we could cover at least 2 very distinct locations within the park. They loved this idea, so we went for it! That’s why adventure engagement sessions are so awesome; you have the opportunity to explore and create more memories to look back on together!
But don’t just take my word for it. Here’s what Emily had to say after I sent her the final gallery link:
“SHUT UP. HANNAH! They are amazing 🤩😍 Literal art! Like what! I CAN NOT wait to put up these photos in our home. We spent about an hour just reliving those moments while looking at the photos. You captured us and our love so authentically! Thank you. Not to mention the way you just know how to photograph the natural beauty of the Olympic Peninsula. These photos are epic and unmatched!”
