Hannah shot this elopement in 2020 before Venture To Elope was born. But of course, Adam came along for the adventure! We got to the top of the road early in the morning. We waited for everyone to arrive and then we all piled into Adam’s old Ford truck and made our way down the narrow and bumpy road. The wedding designer and coordinator, Megan, and I sat in the back of the truck with the table, chairs, details, cake, and florals. Everyone else piled in the front. We were all crammed, but no one else had a car with 4WD. So, if you plan on doing this hike, just know that you need a car with 4WD or AWD to be able to drive down the road! If not, your hike will be MUCH longer.
Once we got to the Abiqua Falls trailhead, we all grabbed something and made our way down to the base of the falls. The trail was muddy, a bit slick, and definitely steep. It was a trek to get down, especially with all of the gear we had! Luckily, there were no slips. We carried Joe and Jaimyn’s suit and dress down, along with the florals, our camera gear, and hiking backpacks. When we finally heard the falls, we knew we were close! At that point, the whole way down was worth it.
The falls were incredible! Seriously one of our favorite waterfalls in all of Oregon! And even though it was super cold, Joe and Jaimyn were down to snuggle close and love up on each other! We took portraits down at the falls and then hauled everything back up the trail to do an intimate reception for them. The sun was setting as we were putting together the details for the tablescape! Luckily, we were able to catch the last few minutes before it got too dark.
CHEERS! Then, the happy couple celebrated! It was so cold that the cake was hard to cut into. But thankfully, we finally got it (thanks to Megan lending a helping hand). AND WOW! Chocolate cake is the best when it’s made by Gretchen. It was so fun to document the whole day from start to finish. Joe and Jaimyn are an incredible couple! And I love all of the vendors that made their day possible!
