We are a husband & wife team. Based in the mountains of Montana & Washington State, we’ve been photographing and filming couples since the start of 2021.
Welcome to our blog where you’ll discover elopement planning resources, as well as beautiful galleries from real weddings!
These two were not our clients. That’s right, they didn’t book an elopement with us, and we didn’t know them at all before we documented their ceremony. But we just so happened to be in the right place at the right time! And we feel so blessed to have been able to capture some moments for K + J. Everyone deserves to have their wedding captured, so you can look back on those moments and remember the joy and love you felt.
Adam and I were photographing the most amazing sunrise to sunset elopement adventure this day. After the sunrise ceremony and celebration with family, we had built in a few hours for a break before meeting back up with the couple for the sunset portion of their day. We were exploring La Push Beach for potential sunset portraits, and running our doggo, June. While we were throwing the ball for her, we noticed what looked like a ceremony that was about to happen in front of a massive tree root.
It looked like everyone was gathering, but they weren’t quite ready to walk down the sandy aisle. When I glanced over, I didn’t see anyone with cameras. Adam and I checked the time and made sure that if we offered our services for this ceremony, it wouldn’t impact our booked couple’s timeline for the day. We still had a couple of hours before meeting up with them, so it was totally fine!
Before their ceremony started, I walked up to one of the guests (as well as the bride) and asked if they had a photographer. Turns out, their photographer canceled 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨. Unfortunate things happen, and we don’t know the circumstances of the photographer’s cancellation. But rest assured that if we ever weren’t able to show up for an elopement day, we would have someone else take our place that we fully trusted. This clause is in our contract for a reason: to protect you!
Anyway, we had our gear with us, so we told them to give us 10 minutes to set it up! They were so sweet, and told us a little bit about the ceremony before we started documenting it. We met the bride and groom’s parents, and the bride’s two sons. They had a gorgeous ceremony planned, and we’re so happy we were there to document it for them.
K had her parents and two sons walk her down the sandy aisle to a beautiful tree root backdrop where J was waiting. They had a close friend officiate for them. The ceremony consisted of prayers, kind words about the two of them, heartfelt vows, sage, and lots of love!
After the ceremony, we were able to take some family portraits and a few couples portraits before everyone left to catch a dinner reservation back at Lake Crescent Lodge!
I don’t really like the saying “things happen for a reason” because there are a lot of bad things that I don’t believe should ever happen. But I do believe that we can manifest good things. And I truly think this couple and their family manifested us being there! To K + J, thank you both for letting some random strangers capture your ceremony!
